James Martarona
Softball Representative
James Martarona began officiating baseball and softball in 1997. After approximately five years, he transitioned exclusively to softball upon being accepted to officiate Division I college softball. Over a 20-year collegiate career, he worked in five conferences — the Southland, Sun Belt, Conference USA, Big 12, and SEC — and participated in numerous conference tournaments, Division I Regionals, and Division I Super Regionals. He also served as a clinician at multiple Division I college camps throughout his career.
James has served as the Area 2 Representative for Softball on the LHSOA Executive Committee for nine years and currently serves as the spokesperson for softball on the LHSOA Sports Committee. He has had the honor of serving as the Umpire-in-Chief for the LHSAA State Softball Championships since 2018 and serves as the Regional Coordinator of Officials for the Lafayette Acadiana Softball Officials Association.
